"Just Doing My Job"
This is a phrase I have heard far too often and needs be addressed. As though this excuses the crimes people are committing. (I think the first ones to use it were the ones who nailed Christ to the cross; "Not my fault", "Just doing my job, LORD", "I need the money."...but I can't actually prove that, as witnesses are scarce, and afraid of coming forward because they'll be called 'RATS'.) Yes, a clear indication of brainwashed, manufactured, thinking...or lack of thinking, to be more precise...Please allow me the luxury of explaining my position before berating me for having it.
There are a number of dangers about adopting this mindset, though it is the path of the soldier, it is NOT the 'Way of the Warrior'. Corruption flourishes as a result of staffing all positions around with this non-thinking, automatic response.
To illustrate this further, let us examine this simple 'ORDER'.
"Sleep Deprivation" is recognized by the "Geneva Convention" as a form of torture. It also states that an official declaration of war need not be made for the rules of the Geneva Convention to apply...it doesn't say except at Rev. Al's place, (I checked).
The Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms strictly prohibits anyone from being disrupted or disturbed who isn't damaging property or being a danger to themselves or anyone else...it doesn't say unless they are Children of GOD or the poor & homeless in Victoria, (again, I checked).
The Canadian Criminal Code grants a person use of force to defend themselves from an "ASSAULT" which is defined as...
265. (1) A person commits assault when
(a) without the consent of another person, he applies force intentionally to that person, directly or indirectly.
(b) he attempts or threatens, by an act or gesture, to apply force to another person, if he has, or causes that other person to believe on reasonable grounds that he has, present ability to effect his purpose.
Any doctor or therapist will tell you the continuous effects of sleep deprivation on the body and mind are catastrophic and lethal. So who would give such an order? The 'King of TRUTH' or the 'Lord of LIES'? Who's side are you on when you're just following these types of orders? Important question to ask oneself considering it has been said that by our actions, not our words for ourselves but by our deeds, shall our names be written in the 'Book of Life'.
