Hunger

In honour of the newest country to join us (Hungary), a poem I was going to post at the end of the 'lost letter' but didn't...(everything for a reason). So I will post it now.

Hunger
I come among the peoples like a shadow.
I sit down by each man's side.
None sees me, but the look on one another,
And know that I am there.
My silence is like the silence of the tide
That buries the playground of children;
Like the deepening of frost in the slow night,
When birds are dead in the morning.
Armies trample, invade, destroy,
With guns roaring from earth to air.
Kings and chancellors give commands,
I give no command to any;
But I am listened to more than kings
And more than passionate orators.
I unswear words, and undo deeds.
Naked things know me.
I am the first and last to be felt of the living.
I am hunger.

  1. Great poem--description, images, and how well it presents reality of experience.

  3. Hallo, thanks once more for your kindness.
    It's a great choice posting this poem, unfotunately it's horribly realistic!
    The book "hunger" by Knut Hamsun is another dimension of:"I unswear words, and undo deeds.
    Naked things know me.
    I am the first and last to be felt of the living".
    P.S. Your blog is sensitive and brilliant!

  6. Beautiful words again. I am not sure if I get the whole picture, but still the words are sounding as I wish I could one day write them. I mean in that level of style of course...
